Our technology can be applied to any real life scenario that demands or prefers the creation of an artificial environment via vaporisation. As this represents such a broad landscape, we have elected to present the immediate primary target markets:
HOUSEHOLD / DOMESTIC
Market penetration of air fresheners in the UK is amongst the highest in Europe with almost 78% of the UK consumers using air fresheners.
A Mintel exclusive consumer report reveals that 58% of UK consumers use air fresheners to neutralise unpleasant odours from pets, smoking and cooking and that the spending on aromatic products in the UK in 2005 was in excess of £302 million representing an increase of almost 6% from 2004. The report forecasts a market of over £400m by 2010. Additionally the market is dominated by 'plug-ins' which represent over 30% of total sales and is forecast to rise to 40% (£160m) by 2010.
Since 2000, the household freshener sector has increased overall by 34.8% and has outperformed all other sectors within the UK household cleaning sector.
The European and USA markets would be the key territories to establish a footprint; the USA household fragrance market generates $2billion annual revenues.
Vapalight have already enjoyed considerable interest from the leading manufacturers in the airflow market and are in discussion with a leading player in this field. We are also keen to explore partnership arrangements with leading operators.
MEDICAL
There is significant scope for adapting our leading edge technology to become effective in the pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare and animal health sub sectors of the global medical sphere. Key areas for application are:
- Pharmaceutical - parasiticides, sterile environments and prevention/suppression of infectious disease.
- Animal Health - livestock treatment, horticulture and botany.
- Consumer Health - respiratory, allergies, childcare
Malaria
We see most benefit in utilising the technology in the ongoing fight against malaria:
Applying the technology for use with insecticides would be most beneficial in second and third world countries across the Middle/Far East and African continents. Malaria annually costs the African economy US$12billion in healthcare costs and lost productivity.
The Lancet, reports that at least 300 million acute cases of malaria occur worldwide each year resulting in more than a million deaths annually. Recent estimates of the global burden of malaria are even higher with one study estimating that 515 million cases of clinical malaria occurred in 2005.
The product does not require the need for trained medical staff to administer the vaccine rather it can be dispensed by simply switching on the light.
We envisage that pharmaceutical providers of the anti malaria vaccine treatment would be an interested licensee.
There are numerous multi facetted applications for the product globally. Although the above sectors represent the immediate target markets, we would welcome and expect a high volume of interest from sub and niche sector operators, such as airplane fogging, fumigation and anti pollution. We would defer to the individual licensee to optimise the potential of the application within their own sector.
HORTICULTURAL
Our delivery technology can be utilised right across the horticultural and hydroponics markets in order to create and maintain any chemically driven temporary and permanent artificial environment.
It has the ultimate flexibility to distribute any bespoke chemical across a required conurbation in a timely and cost efficient manner, in order to affect the most environmentally friendly, pest free resultant.
There are several key benefits for the horticultural/hydroponics sectors:
- Uses Pyrethrum which when airborne can kill many flying pests including Thrips and Fungus Gnats.
- Reduced spraying so reduced labour, both commercially and for the amateur grower where other products require constant re-application
- Little to no residue left on the plant so minimal withholding period time between spraying the plant and being able to supply it to a consumer
- Acts as a repellent as well as a killer so re-establishment of insect populations reduced
- Extremely effective at night when housing vents are closed so it can 'fumigate' the whole growing area to maximize coverage, in this situation a blacked out light can be used so as not to disturb the plants light cycle
- Safe to use around humans and animals
